The goal

Intro

While practicing professionally I am also an academic tutor for the Bachelor of Design interaction and Master of Interaction Design and Electronic Arts degrees. These courses are at the leading edge of interaction design. They teach students to develop a rich understanding of how people interact and experience the world around us, and discover how to design, prototype, and test new products, services and experiences.

My role

Lead classes and workshops with 20-40 students over a 13 week semester
Teach and develop learning materials for courses related to interface design, design thinking and web development
Mentor students on design projects and processes and provide feedback to help them improve their practice

"I had the honor to be a student of Lisa Deng's S2 DESN9003 Strategic Design and Leadership program in 2024, and my first semester as a graduate student was a very memorable experience for me.

We all learned a lot in Lisa's class. First, Lisa breaks down complex concepts and tasks into easy-to-understand and curricular activities. Meanwhile, Lisa will not only discuss the course content, but also share and connect with the problems she has encountered in the workplace or the corresponding situation in the workplace design. I believe this is inseparable from her passion for design. Second, Lisa attaches great significance to students' understanding and learning outcomes during her tutorials. She patiently guides students to discuss their understanding and what they think of relevant concepts, and lets us elaborate examples of relevant concepts in real business design to deepen students' comprehension. Third, Lisa’s classes are pretty interactive, making the class atmosphere very pleasant.

Her dedication to the success of her students is evident in every class, and she is an instructor who wishes and motivates her students to become better. Personally, the way she integrated conceptual knowledge with real-world situations in the workplace helped me learn more about the design field and encouraged me to think about real life cases in a more holistic way. I think Lisa is a very good teacher. In her courses she not only teaches knowledge, but also inspires students to reach their full potential."
